Brand identity design
A logo is nice. But a logo with an entire world built around it? That’s when a brand truly comes to life.
A strong brand identity defines how your brand looks, feels, and is remembered. From your website to your Instagram posts, from that quote you need to rush out at 4:58 PM to the sticker on your front door. When everything speaks the same language, your brand becomes recognizable without needing your name plastered everywhere.
At Studio Flabbergasted, we don't pull brand identities out of a digital grab bag. We build a visual world around your brand, based on who you are, who you want to reach, and where you want to go.
No templates. No “this blue felt professional” decisions. No stock photos of three people pointing at a laptop with slightly too much enthusiasm.
Just a visual identity that is entirely your own.
what exactly is a brand identity?
What is a brand identity? Simply put: everything that allows people to recognize your brand without having to read the name first.
Your logo is part of it, but so are your colors, typography, photography, illustrations, icons, graphic shapes, and the way all those elements work together. You might also hear terms like visual identity or corporate identity used for this.
Think of it as your brand's wardrobe. You might have one fantastic jacket, but if nothing else matches, the whole look just doesn't work.
A strong brand identity ensures that everything logically belongs together. Whether someone visits your website, sees a presentation, or walks past a poster, it immediately feels like the same brand.
And that often happens before they’ve even read a single word.
why invest in professional brand design?
Making a first impression takes about as long as accidentally opening the wrong Instagram Story. In other words: it happens fast.
That’s why good brand design is more than just something that looks nice. It creates recognition, trust, and consistency.
Without a clear visual foundation, a brand quickly starts to drift in every direction. One document uses font A, Instagram suddenly discovers a new shade of green, and someone decides to stretch the logo just to make it fit.
Ouch. A strong brand identity prevents that.
what’s included in a brand identity from Studio Flabbergasted?
logo & variations
The logo is your brand's anchor, so it needs to be adaptable.
We develop a primary logo along with the variations you’ll actually need. Think horizontal and compact versions, a standalone icon, variations for light and dark backgrounds, social media, and your favicon.
And of course, you’ll receive the files neatly organized in the right formats, such as SVG, PNG, and EPS.
Including clear guidelines, so no one ends up putting the logo in Comic Sans over a rainbow gradient three months later.
color palette
Color has a huge impact on how a brand feels.
We don't just pick three colors because they look nice together. We build a palette of primary and secondary colors that fits your brand and is practical to use.
You will receive all relevant color codes for digital and print, including HEX, RGB, CMYK, and Pantone where necessary. We also define which colors take the lead, which are supportive, and which combinations work best.
That way, purple really stays the same purple.
typography
A font can be professional, quirky, friendly, technical, chic, or completely illegible.
We look for typography that matches your brand's character while also being highly functional. For headlines, body text, accents, digital use, and print.
We don't just determine which fonts you use, but also how to use them. Think about hierarchy, size, weight, and combinations.
Because even the best font in the world can go off the rails if everyone uses it differently.
visual language & graphic elements
This is where a brand identity design truly gets its own personality.
We define the look and feel of photography, illustrations, icons, patterns, shapes, and other graphic elements. What atmosphere fits? How should images be cropped? How much color do we use? Should it stay neatly within the lines or break them?
By documenting this, your website won't feel like it belongs to a different company than your LinkedIn post.
applications
A brand identity in a brand book is nice.
Seeing a brand identity in action is even better.
That is why we translate the identity into applications that are relevant to your brand. Think of business cards, social media templates, presentations, email signatures, stationery, signage, packaging, or, of course, your website.
This way, you can immediately see how the style behaves in the real world.
a new brand identity: when is it time?
Not every brand needs a complete makeover every two years. In fact, we prefer they don't.
Sometimes, however, a company grows faster than its image. Perhaps your current identity no longer reflects where your organization stands today. Maybe things have been added over the years until no one is quite sure what the official style actually is. Or perhaps your brand simply doesn't convey what you want it to.
In that case, a new visual identity might be exactly what you need.
When working with an existing organization, we don't automatically throw everything away. We look at what is strong, what has built recognition, and what can be improved. Sometimes developing a visual identity means starting a completely new chapter. Sometimes, a sharp refinement is exactly enough.
the difference between a visual identity and a brand book
The visual identity is the system.
The brand book is the user manual.
Your visual identity includes things like your logo, colors, typography, photography, and graphic elements. In the brand book, we then define how to use, combine, and maintain those components.
At Studio Flabbergasted, we like to deliver both together. Because a fantastic visual identity that no one knows how to use doesn't make anyone happy in the end.
what does the process look like?
Step 1: Introduction & brand strategy
Before we even look at a color swatch, we want to know who you are. What does the brand stand for? Who do you want to reach? Where do your ambitions lie? And how should someone feel when they come into contact with your brand?
If that strategic foundation isn't in place yet, we can sharpen it together first.
Step 2: Mood board & concept direction
We explore the visual possibilities and build different directions in which we bring atmosphere, color, typography, imagery, and character together.
Not: “do you prefer blue or green?”
But: “which world feels like you?”
Step 3: Design
We develop the chosen direction into a complete identity. Logo, colors, typography, visual language, and graphic elements really start working together here.
Along the way, we keep you involved in the process, gather feedback, and refine the work.
Step 4: Applications & brand book
Then we put the system to work. We create relevant applications and record all the rules in a clear brand book.
Step 5: Ready to show it off
All files are delivered neatly, and you have everything you need to send your brand out into the world consistently.
And yes, this is usually the moment when you suddenly want to have everything reprinted.
